Local Web Hosting vs. US Based Web Hosting

For some people, choosing a hosting company is a big dilemma because there are many things that need to be considered. Well, I’m one of those people too. It’s not just about the cost, reputation, support, quality of service, etc but also you need to know whether it is the best solution for your business.

I used to think that all hosting companies are the same but the more I looked into it, the more differences that I found. One of my major concerns when it comes to choosing the right hosting service is whether it has any effect on my traffic. Some experts claim that your website will be ranked better on Google depending on where you hosted your website. If let’s say your hosting company is in Helsinki, your website will be ranked better in Google Finland.

When I started my online business, I had no idea whatsoever about this. So, I bought a local hosting package for my first website. Few months gone by, I started to notice that most of my traffic only coming from my country although I was actually targeting the U.S market.

I know you must be thinking that it could be some other factor and to be honest, I was sceptical too but after I hosted my new website on a hosting company that is based in the U.S, over 50% of the organic traffic coming from there, unlike my first website.

Fluke or not, as long it could help me to achieve my goal and make my life a little bit easier, I’m more than happy to use it. Trust me; if you’re like me spending more than 10 hours per day working, you couldn’t afford to be picky, you just take whatever help you could get.
